Digital Voltage Indicators - DVI-500 Series

The DVI-500 Series Digital Voltage Indicators (DVI) are single point instruments designed to read the voltage on a conductor up to 500kV line-to-ground. One of the notable features of our DVI-500 Series Digital Voltage Indicator is the large LED readout which is easy-to-read on the end of a long hotstick and can be used on overhead lines or in underground applications with an underground bushing probe.

There are two versions of the DVI-500. The DVI-500 indicates voltage by directly contacting conductors on transmission and distribution systems in both overhead and underground applications. The DVI-500T with Test Point Mode also indicates voltage on elbow test points.

When brought into direct contact with a conductor while mounted on a hotstick, the three-digit display indicates the line-to-ground voltage level. The instrument is auto-ranging and indicates voltages from 0.1kV - 9.9kV and from 10kV - 500kV. This allows the user to read the voltage and also determine if it is at nominal voltage or a lower induced voltage. The unit emits an audible alarm when voltage above 100VAC is detected.

Digital Voltage Indicator Features

  • For use on system voltages up to 800kV (500kV line-to-ground maximum)
  • Large auto-ranging LED display indicates the line-to-ground voltage level
  • Audible indication of voltage detected
  • Voltage readout allows user to distinguish between nominal and induced voltage levels
  • Use on overhead or underground applications (underground probe required)
  • Built-in universal spline for standard hotstick attachment
  • Powered by a field replaceable 9-volt alkaline battery
  • Auto shut-off
  • DVI Proof Tester (PT-DVI, optional) available as a power source to test the DVI before and after use
